Founded in 1969 in the name of Bharat Shipping & Clearing Agency, the group was started as a small Custom House broker with mere five employees. Today, it has expanded by leaps and bounds to become an International Freight Forwarder, with over 65 employees all over the country. The company has its headquarters at Chennai, and branches at Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi & Tirupur. It has strong business arrangements with freight forwarders in other ports and airports of the country including Calcutta, Tuticorin, Cochin & Hyderabad to provide services at all parts of India. Bharat Shipping handles ocean freight and airfreight consignments through two separate divisions. The airfreight division, under the style of ' Bharat Air Express' handles all inward and outward consolidations through Air. This division has obtained IATA Cargo Agency accreditation.
